Science-based Pontoon Tours of Lake Owen with Steve Schieffer, LOA Lake Scientist.

Wednesday July 24, 2024, Science-based Pontoon Tours of Lake Owen with Steve Schieffer, LOA Lake Scientist. Tours will include an overview of the organisms that use and occupy Lake Owen, emphasizing important habitat areas, plant identification, key plant characteristics, and their ecological importance.  Common macroinvertebrates will be sampled and identified, along with their ecological importance.  The “slime” off rocks will be sampled, which will blow your mind as to the creatures that make up this “slime.”  The Lake Owen fishery will also be discussed.  Tours depart at 9:00 a.m. July 24, 2024 from the North Outlet Boat Launch, and last 3 hours.  Limited to 10 participants per tour.  Please register at the Annual Meeting on July 20, 2024.
