DNR Northwest Region – GRANTSBURG, Wis. – Turn winter weather into fun with family and friends with help from wildlife education programs and events at Crex Meadows State Wildlife Area in January.
Join Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources staff and the Friends of Crex for these upcoming family-friendly events.
Winter Wildlifers – every Tuesday in January – 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Families can enjoy a chance to discover wildlife through stories, songs, hands-on activities, games, crafts, and snacks. Winter Wildlifers is a free program that encourages families to get out and enjoy nature. Attendees are encouraged to dress for the weather – best for ages 2-8. No advance registration is required.
Snowshoe Adventures – Thursday, Jan. 11 and Thursday, Jan. 25 – 11a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Attendees can join DNR staff for a series of snowshoe adventures around the Crex Meadows Visitor Center and practice walking in snowshoes while learning about winter wildlife. All ages are welcome – some snowshoes will be provided, but attendees are welcome to bring their own.
Family Resources Snowshoe Hike – Saturday, Jan. 20 – 10-11 a.m.
In collaboration with Burnett County Family Resources, Crex Meadows will hold a snowshoe hike for families to enjoy nature and beautiful winter weather. Snowshoes and snacks will be provided.
