Amy Louis, Board Member and President

Amy Louis married into the Eagle Knob gang.  She fell in love with the water at once.  During the early years, Lake Owen provided a peaceful retreat from the rigors of work on Wall Street.  During later years she enjoyed teaching her kids to ski and swim and find her own splice sculling in the early morning calm.  Amy is a graduate of Colorado College where she serves as a trustee.  She also has a masters in business from the Kellogg School at Northwestern University.  Her professional life was dominated by consulting.  Now retired, Amy is dedicated to making the world a better place. She balances her professional time between for-profit and-for-profit boards.  She and husband, Dr. Steve Louis have three grown sons.

 

Tom Johnson, Board Member and Vice President

Tom Johnson has been on the LOA board for 8 years. Tom’s first exposure to Lake Owen dates back to 1976 when Tom worked at the Telemark Lodge with his CPA firm and dined at the Eagle Knob resort. Tom and his wife Barb always dreamed of having a home on Lake Owen. Ultimately in 2006 the Johnson’s were able to build a new home west of Carter Island. Tom retired in 2013 after 38 years as a CPA and now he and Barb spend Summers at Lake Owen. Tom has a passion for protecting and preserving  Lake Owen.

 

Bill Hannaford, Board Member and Treasurer

Bill retired from the Marketing Faculty at UW-Eau Claire where he taught for more than 30 years. Since retiring Bill was active Board Member of the Cable Natural History Museum for 10 years, on the Lake Owen Association Board since 2003, Treasurer since 2006 and responsible for the Lake Owen Association email blasts. Bill likes golf, swimming, boating, occasional water skiing and spending time with the family.  Bill plans many more years enjoying Lake Owen’s unsurpassed pristine beauty.

 

Dave Berg, Board Member

Dave and his wife Patti have been on Lake Owen since 1997.  Dave retired from his business career in 2005, and joined the LOA board shortly thereafter.  Dave enjoys family weekends at the lake with their three children, spouses, and eight grandchildren.  Aside from loving his time on the lake and in the woods, Dave spends his time on several missions boards.

 

Jon Nymo, Board Member and Secretary

Jon Nymo has been resident of Lake Owen in Otter Bay since 1998.  Jon’s hobbies include golf, fishing, and spending time with his many family members at their Hyttes’ property.  Jon spent his business career in the Twin Cities selling data processing systems to the banking industry.  Jon enjoys being a LOA Board member because the value of a clean and well managed lake is extremely important to all residents, and Jon wants to keep it that way.

 

Jerry Kollross, Board Member

Jerry Kollross has been coming to Lake Owen since 1989 after marrying Linda Kornitzer who spent every summer at Lake Owen as a child with her two brothers and grandparents.  Jerry’s hobbies include: masters swimming, golf, and spending time with his family.  Jerry spent his business career in professional sales and teaching.  Since retiring from the University of Arizona in 2021, Jerry keeps himself busy by being a member of three different boards and helping anyone with a project that needs to be done.

Jodi Pfaff, Board Member

Jodi started spending summers with her family on Lake Owen in 1969, and spent most winter weekends skiing at Mt Telemark.  She and her husband Mark Gillman purchased their family home in 2014 next to the old gym camp.  Jodi retired from her career as a School Psychologist a few years back, and has just retired from her partnerships in commercial real estate.  She is passionate about the pristine beauty and purity of Lake Owen and its preservation for future generations.  She most enjoys sharing Lake Owen with her friends and family.

 

Clint Harris, Board Member

Clint’s family connections reach back to 1915 when his great-grandparents honeymooned on the lake at the Cavalier Resort. Clint has never missed a summer on the lake (and doesn’t plan to!).  He and his wife Kylie moved into their current Lake Owen home on Kraft’s Point Rd in 2017. His favorite days on the lake with Kylie and their two kids include skiing, paddling, biking, golfing, tennis and an evening cruise at golden hour. Clint is passionate about preserving and enhancing our special lake’s condition so future generations can marvel at its unique beauty.

 

Nora O’Leary, Board Member

Nora is President/CEO of the Manhattan Toy Company, a designer and marketer of award winning toys for children ages 0 – 3. MT products are sold at better retailers and e-tailers around the world. Nora leads a creative management team and an employee cast of about 40. Manhattan Toy is owned by H Enterprises International – a holding company with a diversified portfolio of operating businesses. Prior to her assignment at Manhatttan Toy, Nora served for over 30 years as VP Administration for H Enterprises. At H, she was responsible for legal services, employee benefits, including H’s 401K program, and corporate secretary. Over the course of 10 years, Nora earned her MBA while raising 3 children. Before her business career, Nora taught elementary, middle and secondary school classes in the Twin Cities and Detroit areas. She caught the bug for business after filling in for the Dean of Students at The Visitation High School in suburban Saint Paul. There, 5’1” Nora was referred to as Mrs. O’Scary by the students! Outside of work, Nora enjoys regular 5-mile walks with girlfriends, yoga classes, book clubs, and visiting with her massive Saint Paul-based family. Lake Owen has been a part of Nora’s family for over 40 years and has proved to be a fantastic gathering spot for family.

She also owns a set of golf clubs, which she looks forward to using once she retires. She is also interested in refreshing her tennis game and improving in pickleball.

Ed Ronkowski has spent part of each year since 1955 at his family’s cabin on Lake Owen. Ed retired from being a Chicago area prosecutor after spending three decades putting away the worst criminals. Ed in his free time is the volunteer webmaster for the Lake Owen Association posting photos and stories about Lake Owen’s four season outdoor’s beauty, area happenings and recreational opportunities. His daughter Andrea was one of the major authors of the Looking Back at Lake Owen book and his photograph is on the cover.

Advisors

Cheryl Clemens

Lake Manager Cheryl Clemens was hired as the Lake Owen Association’s Lake Manager late in 2018. Cheryl supports the LOA board, developing aquatic invasive species programming, providing technical support for homeowners interested in improving habitat and water quality, and guiding water quality studies. She has worked with dozens of lake organizations and hundreds of waterfront property owners to protect and improve Wisconsin lakes and is happy to be working on Lake Owen

 

Steve Schieffer – Ecologist

In 2018 Steve was invited to serve as Lake Owen’s lead scientist to oversee scientific studies and data collection to help manage Lake Owen. Steve has extensive experience over about 20 years studying lakes. Steve’s main expertise ranges from surveying aquatic plants, lake nutrient analysis, aquatic invasive species mitigation and habitat surveys. In addition to doing lake science, Steve has been a high school biology and chemistry teacher for 34 years. He cherishes the opportunity to study such a pristine resource in Lake Owen

Paul and Tami found their way to lake Owen in 2013, after Paul retired, with 33 years with the St. Paul Police department . That is when we started to build  our lake home on the south side of Agnes bay. We have been able to enjoy this incredible body of water since. We both love sharing the lake with family and friends.
